Databricks, one of the world’s leading data and AI companies, is hiring in Vancouver following the launch of its first Canadian research and development hub.
Best known for its lakehouse platform that unifies data, analytics, and AI, Databricks operates R&D centres in a select group of global cities including San Francisco, Amsterdam, and Bengaluru. Vancouver now joins that elite list.
The new hub is being led by local tech veteran Ken Wong, co-founder of Datajoy, which Databricks acquired in 2022. Since the acquisition, Wong has helped guide key product initiatives and will now build out the Vancouver team to support strategic projects across AI/BI, semantic modelling, and real-time analytics.
With more than 15,000 customers and projected annualized revenue of $3.7 billion, Databricks is scaling rapidly—and its expansion into Vancouver marks a significant push for top-tier Canadian tech talent. The company is actively hiring engineers and product professionals across multiple disciplines.
To celebrate the launch, Databricks is hosting an exclusive networking event in Vancouver on Thursday, August 21. Attendees will have the chance to meet Reynold Xin, co-founder of Databricks, along with Ken Wong and members of the founding team at the Vancouver site. If you’re interested in attending, register here.
Databricks already works with major Canadian organizations including Air Canada, TD Bank, and Lululemon. Its decision to open a hub in Vancouver underscores the city’s strength as an emerging global centre for AI and data talent.
