National STEM Expo Unites Youth Coast to Coast

January 15, 2026 by Techtalent.ca Newsdesk

Canada’s future STEM workforce will be on display this winter as the Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology (SCWIST) prepares to host its first-ever national STEM Expo.

Taking place February 4, 2026 at the University of Toronto Scarborough, the inaugural event will bring together more than 500 youth aged 15 to 30 from every province and territory, creating a rare, coast-to-coast gathering of young people exploring careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

While hosted in Toronto, the Expo is national in scope. Through SCWIST’s network, participants from across Canada will attend in person, connecting with peers beyond their regions while engaging with academic institutions, educators, community organizations, and industry leaders.

With more than eight million Canadians aged 15–30, the event is positioned as a response to growing workforce gaps and the need for more inclusive talent pipelines in STEM. Organizers say the Expo is designed to help youth see themselves reflected in Canada’s innovation economy while discovering emerging technologies and career pathways.

SCWIST says the goal is to create a meaningful, accessible platform that strengthens Canada’s future STEM workforce by engaging young people early—and nationally.

Organizers are welcoming participants of all ages and backgrounds who are interested in Canada’s STEM landscape. This includes individual attendees, families, educators, and classroom groups, including elementary school classrooms. Youth under 14 are welcome to attend with an accompanying adult.
