This year we secured a $100M Series E round, and made history as the first legal tech unicorn–further enabling our team to move toward our mission to transform the legal experience for all. Furthermore, the pandemic was a catalyst for sweeping changes in the adoption of cloud-based technology in virtually all industries, and the legal profession is no exception. The accelerated move towards a digital-first mentality caused an important shift in consumer behaviours and expectations.

250 roles in 250 days
Clio employs over 600 full-time individuals across Canada, the United States, and Ireland. Building off the momentum of our Series E announcement, we declared an audacious goal to grow our team by 250 roles in the remaining 250 days of 2021–that’s a 40% increase. Our Product and Engineering Team
We’re agile, dynamic and committed to Living a Learning Mindset. We have a mix of new and existing teams that are working to solve challenging problems. Although this is one of the biggest teams, everyone plays a unique and important role, and has the opportunity to influence our product roadmap.
We’re very good at embracing change. If things aren’t working, we scrap it and make it better. Instead of seeing roadblocks, we see these as opportunities for innovation and problem-solving—and we’re always encouraged and supported to do so by the best people in the industry.
Supporting our communities
Communities are great when they’re great for everyone. That’s why we started the Clio Gives Program, where we donate 1% of our profits, 1% of our product, and 1% of employee time (that’s 2.5 days per person) to volunteer every year.
With the help of the cloud, a world-class team, and a relentless focus on their customers, Clio is transforming the legal experience for all and has donated over $40 million of free product access over the last twelve years to legal clinics, paralegal programs, nonprofits, and law schools through the Clio Academic Access Program. Additionally, Clio has partnered with local organizations such as Equity Leaders BOOK Club, Get REAL, DMS Vancouver, Launching Into Tech, Tech Loves Pride, Women in Tech Sales, Canada Learning Code, Women Who Code, and Chic Geek.
Other examples include:
- COVID-19 Relief Initiative: In 2020, Clio launched a $1 million COVID-19 Legal Relief Initiative to help provide educational resources, free and discounted software, and direct financial assistance to help firms navigate the difficulties brought on by the pandemic. To date, we have contributed $1.1M USD to over 1,300 law firms.
- Equal Justice Initiative: Clio donated $100,000 to the Equal Justice Initiative, which works to end mass incarceration, excessive punishment, and racial inequality. Clio is on a mission to transform the legal experience for all, which means taking responsibility for enacting positive social change in our industry and community.
