When it comes to insurance, this startup has you covered.
Founded by Canadians Karn Saroya and Anand Dhillon, the San Francisco-based company operates in the insurance technology industry—modernizing it, in fact.
Cover’s claim to fame is their aim: “we want to make insurance simpler in every way we can,” a statement on their website reads. Who can argue with that premise?
“Starting with changing the way insurance is sold, we’re on a mission to break down the barriers that instead make insurance frustrating for so many people,” Cover elaborates. “We strive to offer a service that is easy to work with, fairly priced, and set up to be there for you for the long haul.”
The company uses a blend of mobile technology, automation, and expert advice to match users with a policy that works for them at a competitive rate—from auto to home and everything in between.
Cover has already raised multiple rounds of funding, including an $8 million Series A in the summer of 2017 and a $20 million follow-up just over one year later.
“Cover is in a class of their own among insurtechs,” Arjun Sethi, lead investor at Tribe Capital—which led the startup’s most recent round of funding—stated late last year. “They have clear product-market fit and the team has repeatedly proven that they can deliver the step function increase in the insurance experience consumers need and deserve.”
“Our mission from day one has been to rebuild insurance, from the product experience to pricing, for the benefit of our customers,” Cover cofounder Saroya affirmed.
As Cover continues to expand its reach, the Silicon Valley star is seeking more talent. Considering the startup was built by Shopify employees-turned-entrepreneurs, tapping Toronto was an obvious choice.
The company is hoping to fill some of its empty positions at the upcoming Tech Talent Toronto Job Fair. The event provides patrons a unique evening and the opportunity to connect with Toronto’s hottest hiring companies.
The Tech Talent Toronto Job Fair takes place on February 26th at the iconic Steam Whistle Brewing downtown. Tickets start at $20 and includes a free drink and delicious appetizers.
