This Popular Platform Powers Events Everywhere – and is Hiring in Vancouver

February 15, 2020 by Robert Lewis

You don’t have to be a concert junkie or hustling networker to have heard of Eventbrite—the global ticketing and event technology platform provides creators of events with tools and resources to plan, promote, and produce live experiences.

Their app is probably already on your phone from a past event.

In the summer of 2018, the San Francisco-based giant acquired Picatic, a upstart competitor stationed in downtown Vancouver.

Julia Hartz, CEO of Eventbrite, said at the time that Picatic’s team included “some of Vancouver’s most skilled developers.” She recognized the talent pool of the city and pounced.

That prized team has been assembled by Jayesh Parmar, CEO of Picatic.

“Events are deeply rooted in our company’s DNA and we share the same passion for live experiences as the team at Eventbrite,” Parmar, who cofounded Picatic in 2008, stated following the acquisition. “We’re excited to share our talented development community and have a broader impact in the Canadian market and beyond.”

Parmar joined Eventbrite through the transaction and now leads Eventbrite’s Vancouver office. The company has more than 1,000 employees in 14 offices around the world.

“Vancouver is emerging as a lively tech hub, full of world-class talent and innovative companies, and we feel a strong connection to it as a technology and cultural centre,” added Hartz, who cofounded Eventbrite alongside Kevin Hartz and Renaud Visage in 2006. “We look forward to continuing to expand our local team and empowering our creators in this vibrant market.”

To do so, Eventbrite plans to strengthen its team at the upcoming Tech Talent Vancouver Job Fair, a unique recruiting event that connects Vancouver’s hottest companies with local talent in the city.  Eventbrite is seeking engineers, analysts, salespeople, and more.

The Tech Talent Vancouver Job Fair takes place on February 20th at the Vancouver Convention Centre. Tickets start at $20 and includes a free drink and delectable appetizers.
