Digital Skills For Youth Program To Facilitate 280 Jobs With Environmental Employers

September 23, 2020 by Robert Lewis

Interested in a career in the environmental sector? Be sure to check out ECO Canada.

A steward for the Canadian environmental workforce, ECO Canada just received $5.8 million from the Digital Skills for Youth (DS4Y) program to facilitate 280 job placements with environmental employers.

With DS4Y, new grads can use their digital skills to start their careers specifically within organizations that work in the environmental sector, the first wage funding of its kind.

Small-to-medium-sized businesses and non-profits can apply for DS4Y wage funding to recruit new grads with skills such as IT, development, digital marketing, and data management.

“Organizations in all sectors need new workers with digital skills, especially environmental employers. Cleantech, in particular, is a promising sector that will benefit tremendously from the Digital Skills for Youth program,” said Kevin Nilsen, President and CEO of ECO Canada.

“For Canada to have a thriving, competitive, and innovative cleantech industry, we need digitally skilled workers to be part of the movement.”

The Government of Canada has long committed to its climate plan, protecting the environment and growing the economy. DS4Y is supported by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED).

ECO Canada is one of several delivery organizations of ISED’s Digital Skills for Youth (DS4Y) program.
