Silicon Valley-based Betterworks has released its 2025 State of Performance Enablement report, AI and the Employee Experience: Balancing Opportunity and Anxiety.
The study reveals a workplace at a turning point—AI is fuelling record productivity, yet its most engaged users are increasingly seeking new opportunities.
The report, based on insights from over 2,100 employees and leaders in the US and UK, highlights a growing talent divide. Nearly 80% of AI-savvy employees are looking to leave their companies, while 65% of AI-resistant workers plan to stay.
“As AI rapidly reshapes the workplace, leaders have a unique opportunity to move beyond experimentation and drive intentional AI adoption,” said Doug Dennerline, CEO of Betterworks. “The key is democratizing AI skills and fostering career mobility for all.”
Additional findings include a gap in AI adoption across seniority levels—executives are twice as likely as managers and 3.5 times more likely than individual contributors to be AI power users. Despite widespread enthusiasm, nearly half of AI enthusiasts fear job displacement.
To address these challenges, the report urges organizations to embed AI into performance enablement, provide AI literacy training, and use AI to enhance career mobility. Without a clear strategy, businesses risk losing their most forward-thinking talent.
