Axibo, a fast-growing robotics company based in Waterloo, is on a hiring spree as it launches a bold new division focused on humanoid robotics—fuelled by a just-announced $12 million funding round.
The company is actively recruiting engineers and AI specialists to help develop its first humanoid robot prototype, expected to debut in early 2026. Axibo’s founding team says early hires will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of intelligent, autonomous machines designed for real-world applications across healthcare, logistics, industrial automation, and personal assistance.
“Canada is exceptionally well-positioned with its talent and resources,” said Anoop Gadhrri, Axibo’s co-founder and CEO. “Our commitment is to drive this forward, placing Canada prominently on the global robotics stage.”
The company’s new division is backed by $11 million from external investors and an additional $1 million from founders Gadhrri, Sohaib Al-Emara, and Reiner Schmidt—three engineering graduates whose robotics journey began with their university’s first autonomous vehicle project in 2019.
Axibo has already made a name for itself with its 4D volumetric capture and cinema robotics technology, supplying innovative camera systems to global clients including Netflix and Apple. Now, with thousands of robots already in the field, the company is doubling down on Waterloo’s strengths in AI, robotics, and precision engineering to break into the emerging humanoid robotics sector.
The new prototype—code-named “T.E.B.”—will showcase agility and intelligence, supported by advancements in proprietary manufacturing and rapid prototyping. Axibo promises its team members the opportunity to experiment freely, iterate quickly, and deliver cutting-edge results.
“We see humanoid robots as the next major milestone in productivity since the Industrial Revolution,” said Gadhrri. “We envision a future where every household benefits from humanoid robotics.”
For those looking to help build that future, Axibo says now is the time to join.
