50 Canadian Companies Building a Sustainable Future—and Growing Too

June 3, 2022 by Knowlton Thomas

There are at least 50 reasons to be optimistic about climate change in Canada.

Corporate Knights this month revealed what it dubs the Future 50: the fifty fastest-growing green companies in the country.

“Our objective was to identify outstanding Canadian entrepreneurs and companies that are gaining significant traction in the fight against carbon—with exciting new solutions that most of the world hasn’t discovered yet,” wrote Rick Spence.

“The result: a power-packed list of companies whose products and services bring bold new ideas to the sustainability front—and raise hopes that we can win the climate war,” added Susanne Ruder.

With three-quarters of the list boasting triple- or quadruple-digit growth rates, one can expect that most or all of these companies will be seeking to expand their workforces as they march Canada toward a sustainable future.

The companies are evenly split between private and public, spread across the provinces, and span a diverse range of industries—suggesting there are career opportunities in green wherever you look.

“What’s most remarkable about the Future 50 is the many different business niches they represent: from green economy basics such as renewable energy, biofuels and batteries to sustainable products ranging from vegan butchers to low-carbon cement, as well as innovative services ranging from climate-monitoring satellites to a green taxi company,” the authors noted.
