Democratizing Networking: Matthew Green’s Journey from Grad to Chasqui Founder

March 19, 2024 by Robert Lewis

In September 2022, Matthew Green completed grad school armed with a degree in aerospace engineering. However, the post-graduate job search proved to be a formidable challenge.

Like many of his peers, Green faced the frustration of applying for jobs online, only to receive minimal results. The vast pool of online applicants made it difficult to stand out, and the lack of feedback left him discouraged.

Realizing the limitations of traditional online applications, Green sought advice from his uncle, a successful startup entrepreneur. His uncle emphasized the crucial role of networking in job hunting, prompting Green to delve into the art of effective networking. This pivotal decision became the catalyst for his transformation from a frustrated job seeker to an employed Systems Engineer.

As Matthew’s network expanded, he encountered a new challenge – the cumbersome task of organizing information. Manual tracking of contacts in Excel, referencing meeting notes and contacts in Word, and managing interactions in various calendars became overwhelming. The need for a more streamlined approach became evident.

Reflecting on his journey, Green identified a gap in the education curriculum – the lack of formal instruction on networking skills.

Determined to bridge this gap, he conceived and developed Chasqui, an all-in-one networking platform designed to revolutionize the networking process.

Chasqui utilizes AI to generate tailored communications based on data and meeting notes gathered during networking activities. The platform seamlessly integrates AI with learning and organizational tools, empowering users to build, leverage, and maximize their network connections for a successful job hunt or professional growth.

Named after the Incan messengers who bridged gaps in the Inca Empire, Chasqui draws parallels by connecting individuals and ensuring the swift exchange of career-building information. The conch shell held by the Chasquis, symbolized in Chasqui’s logo, represents the platform’s ability to announce users’ presence and connect them to the world.

Green’s journey from aerospace engineering graduate to Systems Engineer is a testament to the transformative power of networking.

With Chasqui as his brainchild, he not only found success but also contributed to addressing the educational gap in networking skills.

Green continues to work on Chasqui as a side project, aiming to empower individuals in their career endeavors. Chasqui stands as a beacon, guiding professionals through the challenging terrain of networking towards brighter career prospects.
