Fintech Titan Taps into Toronto’s Tech Talent Pool with New Office

September 21, 2026 by Knowlton Thomas

In pursuit of international expansion, Robinhood recently entered the Canadian market by closing its 2025 acquisition of WonderFi, a fintech firm whose assets include two of the country’s longest-standing regulated crypto platforms, Bitbuy and Coinsquare.

The strategic acquisition also added more than 300,000 customers to Robinhood’s business.

“WonderFi has extensive experience operating regulated crypto platforms that serve beginner and advanced crypto users alike, making it an ideal partner to accelerate Robinhood’s mission in Canada,” Johann Kerbrat, SVP and General Manager of Robinhood Crypto & International, stated in July.

This week, Robinhood cemented its rising presence in Canada with a new headquarters in downtown Toronto to serve as a central hub for the company’s expanding engineering and operational teams.

“Opening our new Toronto office is a milestone for Robinhood,” commented Kerbrat.

“This office is a testament to the incredible talent in Canada and our dedication to providing Canadian investors with access to world-class financial tools,” he said.

Chris Pollock, GM of Robinhood Canada, remarked that “as we continue to grow, our focus remains on bringing competitive products and transparent services to our users.”

“We are excited to work closely with the local community as we build the future of finance,” he added.

Robinhood today employs more than 200 workers in Canadas with intentions to grow.

The Silicon Valley giant was founded in 2013 as a digital-forward alternative to traditional trading platforms.
