Growclass Launches AI Certification as Survey Exposes Canada’s Training Gap

September 23, 2025 by Techtalent.ca Newsdesk

As artificial intelligence transforms the workplace, a new survey suggests Canadian workers are lagging when it comes to skills and confidence.

According to research by Growclass and Angus Reid, only 42 percent of Canadians are using AI tools on the job, and just 12 percent have received formal training. Confidence remains low: while four in ten employees are experimenting with AI, only a third feel equipped to use it effectively.

The study highlights a range of divides. Men report higher confidence than women (36% versus 30%) and are slightly more likely to have been formally trained (13% versus 11%). Women also express greater concern about job security, with 29% worried AI could replace their roles within five years compared to 22% of men.

Employers are seen as holding the key to closing this gap. More than two-thirds of Canadians (68%) said they would be interested in AI training if their workplace offered it, while nearly half (46%) believe companies should carry the primary responsibility for upskilling. Regional differences emerged as well: demand is strongest in Ontario and Quebec (71%) and weakest in Atlantic Canada (56%).

Sector-specific results also stood out. HR professionals lead in AI adoption (81%) and training (33%), but they are also the most worried about replacement (62%). Non-profit, communications/marketing, and digital technology professionals reported the highest levels of confidence in AI use.

To address these challenges, Growclass—an award-winning course provider and community for marketers—has launched its AI Marketing and Strategy Certification. The six-week program is designed to give marketing professionals the practical skills and ethical framework needed to integrate AI responsibly.

“AI is already central to how we work, but without proper training, it risks leaving people behind, particularly for women and underrepresented communities,” said Sarah Stockdale, CEO and Founder of Growclass. “Our program is designed to close that gap by giving people the practical skills, confidence and value alignment they need to use AI intentionally, not fear it.”

Participants in the certification program will gain hands-on experience with AI tools, build a 30/60/90 day roadmap for integration, and take part in live workshops taught by industry experts. Graduates also join Growclass’s alumni network, which the company calls “the kindest corner on the internet.”
