Melbourne-based healthcare AI company Heidi is establishing its North American headquarters in Toronto, with a planned $25.4 million investment and more than 30 additional skilled jobs expected in the coming years.
The company has already recruited 17 employees for the office, according to Invest Ontario’s announcement. Toronto will anchor Heidi’s regional expansion, supporting product research and development and strategic partnerships.
Heidi develops AI tools for clinical documentation and workflow management, aiming to reduce administrative work so healthcare professionals can spend more time with patients.
Canada is now its second-largest and fastest-growing market. The company says its AI Care Partner has supported 11 million clinical hours across the country.
CEO and co-founder Dr. Thomas Kelly pointed to Ontario’s AI talent, research hospitals and academic institutions as key reasons for choosing the province.
Heidi is collaborating with the Vector Institute on AI research and working with organizations including the Nurse Practitioners’ Association of Ontario to support adoption.
Invest Ontario is assisting the expansion through labour market insights, strategic advice and connections across the province’s healthcare and research communities.
