Montreal-headquartered Lightspeed announced this week that they’re making the move into the supply chain with the Lightspeed Supplier Network.
The launch of the fully integrated stock ordering solution promises to transform supply chain management for SMBs, democratizing access to the strategic inventory visibility once reserved predominantly for enterprise retail and eCommerce giants.
This week’s announcement is a significant shift from Lightspeed’s market positioning when they IPOed in 2019 as the “leading provider of point-of-sale software for independent restaurants.”
The company, which quickly adapted its restaurant-centric software in order to also cater to smaller retail operations, now bills itself as a “leading provider of cloud-based, omni-channel commerce platforms.”
According to CEO Dax Dasilva, Lightspeed is currently trying to fill about 200 positions.
