Six Silicon Valley Headquartered Tech Companies Hiring in Vancouver

December 8, 2020 by Robert Lewis

The trend is undeniable. Tech companies hailing from San Francisco are setting up shop in Vancouver to gain access to our strong talent base.

This trend shouldn’t surprise anyone. The strongest economic argument in Vancouver’s pitch to Amazon to build their HQ2 here was that the city’s tech workers have the “lowest wages of all North American tech hubs.”

The fact is Vancouver is an affordable option for U.S. companies looking for an engineering footprint outside of their hometown headquarters. Foreign direct investment in Vancouver is on the rise.

Asana

San Francisco’s Asana (NYSE: ASAN) is a web and mobile application designed to help teams organize, track, and manage their work. Asana has over 900 employees and a market capitalization of $4.5 billion. Asana is hiring an Engineering Manager, Lead Product Designer, Product Manager, and more in Vancouver.

Chime

San Francisco’s Chime is an American technology neobank company which provides fee-free financial services through a mobile app. Chime’s new Vancouver outpost is currently home to 20 employees (fully remote during COVID-19) from their engineering team and they hope to have 100 by the end of 2021.

Grammarly

San Francisco’s Grammarly empowers people to thrive and connect, whenever and wherever they communicate. 30 million people around the world use our AI-powered writing assistant every day. All of this begins with our team collaborating in a values-driven and learning-oriented environment. Grammarly is hiring Engineers in Vancouver.

Postmates

Launched in 2011, San Francisco’s Postmates is one of many on-demand delivery companies in the United States providing delivery from restaurants and stores that previously did not offer goods delivery. Postmates was acquired by Uber (NYSE: UBER) in July 2020 for $2.65 billion. Postmates X is hiring a Senior Product Manager (Robotics) in Vancouver.

Segment

San Francisco’s Segment provides customer data infrastructure that helps businesses put their customers first. Segment was acquired by Twilio (NYSE: TWLO) in October 2020 for $3.2 billion. Segment is hiring Software Engineers in Vancouver.

Tally

San Francisco’s Tally is on a mission to automate people’s entire financial lives so they can be less stressed and better off financially. Tally was named Forbes’ Next Billion Dollar Startup in 2020. Tally is hiring Engineers, Designers, and Copywriters.
