Wealthsimple’s North Star Calls Canadian Tech Leaders Home

July 10, 2026 by Techtalent.ca Newsdesk

Wealthsimple is looking beyond Canada’s borders as it recruits experienced Canadian technology leaders to help build the financial company’s next chapter.

Through its North Star program, the Toronto-headquartered fintech is inviting Canadians who have built careers abroad to explore opportunities back home. The initiative specifically targets accomplished professionals with experience scaling technology companies, developing advanced products, and leading high-performance teams.

Rather than advertising a single position, North Star functions as a talent pipeline connecting returning Canadians with potential roles across Wealthsimple. The company is seeking candidates in engineering, including AI, infrastructure, backend, frontend, and mobile development, as well as product, design, data science, machine learning, finance, and strategy.

Wealthsimple is also looking for VP- and director-level leaders across research and development, product, operations, and strategy.

The initiative comes as Canadian companies compete with major American technology hubs for experienced talent. Wealthsimple argues that Canada’s growing technology ecosystem needs leaders who have built products and organizations at scale—and that returning professionals can help strengthen the country’s capacity to produce globally significant companies.

Candidates begin by submitting a résumé and answering several questions. When a relevant opportunity exists, Wealthsimple’s recruitment team will arrange an informal conversation, followed by a potential introduction to a senior company leader.

Wealthsimple currently serves more than four million Canadians and administers more than $125 billion in assets. Its workforce includes more than 1,500 employees across North America.

With North Star, the fintech is making a direct pitch to Canadians working in markets such as San Francisco, New York, and Boston: the next major opportunity may be waiting for them at home.
