LinkedIn data shows that skillsets for jobs have changed 25% since 2015 and are projected to shift by 65% by 2030.
And the company’s last “Future of Work Report” found that a majority of executives no longer consider the traditional four-year degree as essential to an organization’s success.
Indeed, the skillsets hiring managers seek are shifting as we move forward into an era of “AI at work.”
But LinkedIn argues that the boom of artificial intelligence “stands to make your core skills more valuable, not less.”
LinkedIn’s 2024 Most In-Demand Skills list reveals a renewed value in age-old fundamental skills such as communication, leadership, collaboration, creativity. These so-called “soft skills” are being rebranded as “durable” or “evergreen” skills.
To truly stay evergreen, one should consider the “skill of the moment”—adaptability. As uncertainty rises, a flexible stoicism in the face of adversity will allow workers to remain on their optimal career path long-term.
“Adaptability is the best way to have agency right now,” stated LinkedIn Vice President Aneesh Raman. “At the core of managing change is building that muscle of adaptability.”
