Borderless AI Podcast Explores What Culture Looks Like Under Pressure

August 30, 2026 by Robert Lewis

Company culture is easy to talk about when things are going well.

It becomes much more revealing when the pressure hits.

That is the focus of the latest episode of Let’s Table That, the HR podcast from Borderless AI. In “Culture Shows Up When the Pressure Hits,” hosts Jazmine and Glaze sit down with Teresa Vozza for a conversation about leadership, resilience, influence, and what separates good leaders from great ones when the stakes get higher.

The episode centres on a simple but important idea: culture is not defined by what companies say about themselves. It is revealed by how leaders behave when teams are under stress, priorities are shifting, and decisions need to be made quickly.

For founders, executives, and people leaders, that distinction matters. Many organizations invest time in defining values, writing culture documents, and communicating what they stand for. But employees usually learn what the culture really means in harder moments: when a deadline slips, a business line is under pressure, a reorganization is underway, or leaders must choose between short-term results and long-term trust.

Vozza’s conversation with Jazmine and Glaze explores how leaders can build the judgment and resilience required for those moments. As leaders step into bigger roles, the job becomes less about having all the answers and more about understanding systems, anticipating consequences, and creating conditions where teams can perform even when the environment is uncertain.

That systems-thinking lens is especially relevant for scaling companies. As organizations grow, decisions ripple across teams in ways that are not always obvious. A communication gap in one function can become a trust issue elsewhere. A rushed hiring decision can shape team dynamics for months. A lack of clarity at the executive level can create confusion throughout the company.

The episode also looks at executive influence. For people leaders and operators, influence is not just about being included in important conversations. It is about helping the business see the human and organizational consequences of its decisions. That requires credibility, clarity, and the ability to connect culture directly to performance.

For Canadian tech companies navigating leaner teams, faster change, and increasingly distributed workforces, the conversation lands at a timely moment. The companies that build strong cultures are not the ones that avoid pressure. They are the ones that use pressure as a test of whether their leadership systems, communication habits, and decision-making processes are strong enough to hold.

At its core, Vozza’s message is that culture is not a side project. It is an operating system.

When the market is calm, culture can look like engagement, alignment, and shared language. When the pressure rises, it shows up in how leaders communicate, how teams make decisions, how accountability is handled, and whether people still trust the direction of the company.

For founders, executives, HR leaders, and anyone responsible for leading through change, the episode offers a useful reminder: culture is built every day, but it is proven in the moments that test it.
