Calgary-built “Amazon for Construction” To Be At 100 Employees By Mid 2022

December 21, 2021 by Robert Lewis

Calgary’s CostCertified had quite the year.

After participating in the Spring 21 batch at Y Combinator, hired their first employee in January and have grown to 35 employees to date.

Six months later they raised their first round of external funding, a $8.45 million seed round led by FUSE.

CostCertified is building the “Amazon for construction” where contractors can give their customers an interactive shopping experience, turning the estimate into a point-of-sale, for the first time. It is a marketplace for general contractors, subcontractors, retailers and consumers, powered by a database of over 114,000 real items.

CostCertified allows contractors to send a shoppable interactive estimate to homeowners so that they can choose their selections during a project, and see the effect on price instantly. If you’ve ever performed a home remodeling project, you understand that this is something that would be incredibly useful considering all the various decisions required around vendors and products.

Being able to see your options and how specific choices will impact your end cost in one place can certainly help make the project less stressful.

CostCertified is hiring across software engineering, designers, sales, marketing, finance and many other positions as they aim to be at 100 employees by mid 2022.
