San Francisco’s Dialpad is expanding its employee presence in Canada.
With offices in Kitchener-Waterloo and Vancouver, and additional employees across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Quebec, Dialpad has over 160 full-time employees in Canada.
Canadian employees account for more than 20% of Dialpad’s workforce.
A majority of these workers were hired after March 2020 as the company saw heightened demand for its cloud-based calling, conferencing and contact center technology due to the increase in flexible working environments during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It’s been a year of tremendous growth for Dialpad, including the acquisition of Highfive, securing $126M in Series-E funding and expanding our overall headcount by almost 50%. We are excited to continue this momentum by strengthening our research and development teams based in Ontario and British Columbia,” said Jim Palmer, Vice President of Data Engineering, Dialpad.
“We are delighted to have built strong partnerships with key Canadian institutions of higher learning like the University of British Columbia. And we are eager to deepen our engagement in Canada by further accessing the breadth and depth of diverse talent across the country, particularly in the Kitchener-Waterloo area, through the hiring efforts we are announcing today.”
Dialpad aims to maintain its hiring momentum in Canada, with a special focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) experts, as these roles are critical as Dialpad expands research and development efforts for its proprietary Voice Intelligence (Vi™) technology.
“As the lead investor in Dialpad’s Series-E funding round, we know how unique and innovative Dialpad’s platform is. We are excited to see the innovations that stem from Dialpad’s increased focus on R&D,” said Mark Shulgan, Managing Director and Head of OMERS Growth Equity.
“We are equally thrilled to see Dialpad advancing its ambitious global growth goals by tapping the incredible depth and breadth of Canada’s tech talent – particularly in our home province of Ontario.”
