Ecobee Latest Startup To Share List Of Laid-Off Employees

April 10, 2020 by Robert Lewis

The surge of COVID-19-related layoffs has put technology industry in a unique position.

While the ecosystem is facing layoffs itself, it is also trying to help get people back to work. And there is no better example of this than the flurry of crowdsourced spreadsheets published in hopes of finding laid-off employees a soft landing spot.

The spreadsheets popped up as a bet on the network effect, with the ultimate goal of hoping the lists land in the hands of a recruiter looking to hire one of hundreds laid off.

In a world where people are laid off on Zoom, the tech industry’s efforts to give community, and a course of action, to those laid off is undeniably important.

Toronto’s ecobee is one of the companies facing layoffs and a list has been published at hireecobee.com.

“ecobee hires some of the most intelligent, innovative, and hardworking individuals that the Toronto Tech scene has to offer. We were so thankful to work alongside them and know that you’ll be more than lucky to have any of them join your team,” the list creator writes.

If you’re hiring, check out the “ecopeeps” on the list.
