It’s been two weeks since three entrepreneurs in Toronto launched a Google Sheet labelled the CDN Startup Community #COVID19 Talent Help List.
What began as a modest spreadsheet of 60 people on day one, is now a database of over 2,000 tech workers. While many early additions to the list were already job hunting when the coronavirus pandemic hit, the list continues to grow at a rapid pace thanks to lay-offs caused by the global crisis.
As an example, Toronto’s Ritual reportedly laid off 200 employees this morning.
The list has become so popular that it has been re-branded as “The Help List” and found a new home at thehelplist.ca.
“Whether you’ve recently lost your job or seen your freelance opportunities diminish, we want to help you gain exposure and connect to new opportunities and resources for the Canadian Technology Sector during this global crisis”.
The Help List has expanded to become a non-profit initiative committed to curating resources for the Canadian Technology Sector during this global crisis.
