The Jobs of Tomorrow: LinkedIn’s 2020 Emerging Jobs Report

December 12, 2019 by Robert Lewis

LinkedIn has released their third-annual LinkedIn Emerging Jobs Report, highlighting the fastest-growing jobs around the world and the skills associated with them.

The Emerging Jobs analysis is based on all LinkedIn members with a public profile that has held a full-time position within the U.S. during the past five years.

Once the talent pool has been identified, they then calculate the share of hiring and Compound Annual Growth Rate for each occupation between 2015 and 2019 to identify the roles with the largest rate of hiring growth. These become their Emerging Jobs.

Whether you’re looking for a new gig or want to get ahead in the rapidly-changing world of work, these insights show you how jobs, careers, and skills are changing so you can explore the right next step for you.

Here’s what you should know about this year’s emerging jobs.

Artificial intelligence (AI) continues to make a strong showing on the Emerging Jobs lists, which is no surprise. Many jobs that have risen up as a result of AI in fields like cybersecurity and data science and because it’s is so pervasive many roles may demand more knowledge of AI than you may think.

Professionals are on the move, likely a result of factors like housing costs, political and regulatory change, or more flexibility with remote work opportunities. There are cities around the world that are emerging as strong job markets that may offer more jobs and a better quality of life.

Demand for soft skills is likely to increase as automation becomes more widespread. Skills like communication, creativity, and collaboration are all virtually impossible to automate, which means if you have these skills you’ll be even more valuable to organizations in the future.

Check out the top 15 emerging jobs here.
