Deloitte has announced the winners of this year’s Technology Fast 50 program.
Recognizing the world-class achievements of Canadian technology companies, the Technology Fast 50 program highlights their commitment to innovation, leadership, and rapid revenue growth between 2017 and 2020.
This year, the average three-year growth of the Fast 50 winners is 2604%.
Traditionally Deloitte has had three categories – Fast 50, Enterprise Fast 15, and Companies-to-Watch, but this year they have added a Clean technology category.
Technology Fast 50
Topping the charts of the Fast 50 category with a three-year growth of 33,614% is Toronto’s Snapcommerce, a message-driven commerce platform that uses AI to connect price-conscious consumers to the best promotions on mobile. Among the companies cracking the Fast 50 are Ada, AlayaCare, ApplyBoard, Klue, Lumen5, and Thinkific.
Enterprise Fast 15
The Enterprise Fast 15 ranking recognizes the fastest-growing enterprise-level technology, media, and telecommunications companies that recorded a minimum revenue of $25 million in 2020. Montreal’s Valsoft ranked #1 with growth of 757%. Other companies acknowledged included Jobber, Hopper, Canada Drives, and Visier.
Companies to watch
This year the companies to watch category awarded 15 new winners. Companies coast to coast that are making an impact in the tech industry and growing for future success. From dataware to smart thermostats the list is an outstanding example of Canadian innovation in startups looking to scale. Among the companies to watch are Canalyst, Clir Renewables, and Coconut Software.
Clean technology
New to the 2021 program, the Clean Technology category is a ranking of Canada’s top clean innovators providing processes, goods or services that reduces environmental impacts.
With reduction of our carbon footprint and environmental impact of paramount importance, this new category awards innovators spearheading the clean technology movement, creating the sustainable business and technology landscape of the future. Coming out on top is Kelowna’s Pela.
Annual survey highlights from Fast 50 Executive Leadership
Deloitte’s annual survey of Technology Fast 50 Executive Leaders found the labour market is once again the top ranked challenge facing Canadian businesses in 2021, replacing last year’s number one hurdle—the COVID-19 pandemic.
While COVID-19 ranks as the third most pressing challenge this year, slightly outranked by technology advancements, 56 per cent of respondents say the labour market is their number one challenge, continuing the trend seen pre-pandemic.
