More than Half of Canadians Would Reskill Into A New Career If Given the Opportunity

March 31, 2021 by Robert Lewis

Canadian tech education leader Lighthouse Labs has released the results of a new survey that gives surprising insight into the career outlook of employed Canadians.

The survey shows us that more than half of Canadians want to reskill into a new career, but the majority feel prohibited from doing so due to fear of starting a new career from scratch (36%), loss of income (41%) and not having enough time to devote to reskilling (39%).

Interestingly, minority groups, including women, visible minorities and LGBTQ2+ Canadians, are more interested in reskilling than non-minority groups.

To make tech education more accessible to employed Canadians with full schedules, Lighthouse Labs has launched its new program called Web Development Flex, which will offer the same renowned curriculum over a less concentrated schedule and timeline.

Recognizing that employed Canadians need additional support to make the jump, Lighthouse Labs is offering all Canadians applying to the Web Development Flex Program the option to also apply to receive a $3,500 scholarship.

Check out the complete survey online.
