15 Rising Canadian Startups Attract Top Talent While ‘Shaping Future Industries’

October 15, 2025 by Knowlton Thomas

The way that professionals in Canada work is “rapidly evolving,” according to LinkedIn, which recently revealed the country’s top companies on the rise.

Advances in artificial intelligence have reduced the time and resources necessary to launch a business, LinkedIn notes, lowering barriers to entry and accelerating the next wave of innovation.

At the tip of this innovation iceberg, the eighth annual LinkedIn Top Startups list identifies today’s young pioneers who are “shaping the future of their industries.”

Eligible companies must be independent and privately held, have 30 or more full-time employees (with no recent significant layoffs), and be no older than five years.

Firms are then analyzed according to a data-based evaluation across several pillars including employee growth and jobseeker interest.

LinkedIn also measured each firm’s “attraction of top talent” by counting how many employees a startup has recruited away from a global LinkedIn Top Company (as a percentage of the startup’s total workforce).

At the top of the 2025 list is Toronto-based financial technology startup Pine, which jumped several spots after ranking fifth last year.

Founded in 2021 to modernize Canada’s mortgage process through AI-powered solutions, the company today employs more than 60 staff members.

Vancouver-based Hiive, another fintech established in 2021, climbed from fourth to second year-over-year, while Montreal-born online retailer platform Manmade rounded out this year’s podium.

If you’re looking for a top Canadian tech firm on the rise to work for, LinkedIn’s full list can be found below, with estimated employee counts in parentheses.
